FUE Hair Transplant
What is FUE Hair Transplant?
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) is a modern hair transplant technique where individual hair follicles are extracted from the donor area (usually the back of the head) and implanted into the recipient area. Unlike the older FUT method, FUE does not leave a linear scar.
How it works
- Extraction: Individual follicles are harvested using a micro-punch tool.
- Preparation: Grafts are sorted and preserved in a nutrient solution.
- Implantation: Channels are opened in the recipient area, and grafts are placed one by one.
Who is it for?
FUE is the technique that has been generalized for hair transplants; it is suitable for all patients, including those with afro hair.
Pros
- Minimal scarring (tiny dots)
- Faster recovery than FUT
- Natural-looking results
- Suitable for short hair
Cons
- Longer procedure time
- Requires shaving the donor area
- Higher cost than FUT
What Clinics Say About This Procedure
ORION CLINIC, ISTANBUL : In the FUE technique, follicular units (1 to 4 hairs) are extracted by the medical team with a motorized punch from the donor area (back of the head, where the hair is not affected by androgenetic alopecia), and then transplanted into the area to be restored (temples, frontal area, vertex...) into the openings (channels) made by the doctor with a blade (steel, sapphire), and placed using micro forceps.
What are the differences between the FUE technique and the DHI technique?
It is possible to achieve highly successful results with both hair transplantation methods. However, the decision on which method to use can only be made after an expert examination. In general, the differences between DHI and FUE hair transplantation are as follows:
- The FUE technique involves creating channels. The DHI method allows for direct implantation.
- In the DHI technique, approximately 1500 to 2000 grafts are transplanted. In the FUE method, this value varies between 4000 and 4500 grafts.
- With the DHI method, the patient recovers much faster.
- In the FUE technique, a medical scalpel is used. In the DHI technique, a special pen is used for the transplantation.
- DHI treatment takes longer. In contrast, the FUE technique yields twice as many hair follicles compared to the DHI technique.
- The application method differs in both approaches.
- In the DHI method, the hair follicles taken from the donor area are applied directly. In the FUE technique, they are kept in a container.
